Who am I?

I never quite realized the pressure that was involved in writing an initial blog entry. I have sat just staring at my keyboard for much longer than I care to admit. Yes, it’s sad, I know. I suppose it is easier to write about something when there is something specific discuss. To be honest, I don’t quite know what I intend my blog to be about. I do, however, have many hobbies and diversions of my time that I really think others will be interested in as well.

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Alex Earl. I am from a small town called Tremonton in the beautiful state of Utah. I’m a graduate of Bear River High and am currently attending The University of Utah for my undergraduate studies. I love music and cherish the impact it has on my life. I enjoy singing and have had the joy of being in various singing groups throughout my life, particularly my high school Madrigals choir and a group led by my voice coach called The CDs. I love to play my acoustic guitar, although feebly so, I take pleasure in the challenge. Since I was a little child I have been interested in technology and computers. I constantly found myself reading technical books and being interested in things none of my friends cared to share interest in. As a side effect, I have learned several programming languages and tend to code as more of a hobby than a job. I am currently infatuated with iPhone development and the Objective-C programming language in general. I have developed several iPhone apps and hope to have one published on Apple’s App Store before the end of the year. Although I enjoy programming, I have yet to decide if I want to make a career out of it. Living in Utah has led me to enjoy many outdoor activities. My winter sport of choice is always snow skiing and I hope to someday be involved with the ski patrol at one of Utah’s great ski resorts. In the warmer months, I enjoy hiking, mountain biking and camping. However, going boating at Bear Lake has recently become the activity of choice when the days get hot. You really can’t beat water skiing, wakeboarding and tubing with my awesome family.

I am typically a fairly private person until you get to know me. I have never really been into Facebook, MySpace, Twitter or any other social media sites where you have to lay yourself out for the world to see. Although I do have accounts on each and really enjoy talking to people I haven’t seen since high school, I certainly don’t consider myself active in the online communities. I have always just preferred to talk to people in person. I do look forward to posting about topics on my blog that interest me and I am excited to hear from those that share the same interests. Although I anticipate talking about personal things of interest to me to be rather difficult, I am strangely excited at the same time. Welcome to the Antithesis of Alex.
